Zelenskyy Exposes Ongoing Western Support to Russia’s Arms Production

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Friday that some Western nations continue supplying Russia with equipment that aids its weapons manufacturing, despite ongoing international sanctions.

“Unfortunately, even Western countries still continue to supply Russia with equipment and critical components,” Zelenskyy stated during a conference focused on new sanctions targeting Moscow, as reported by a state-run news agency.

He revealed that Ukrainian analysts have identified “hundreds of types” of foreign-made parts in Russian drones and missiles.

Zelenskyy stressed Russia’s reliance on global sources for military supplies, accusing Moscow of employing covert methods to bypass sanctions and acquire machinery and tools vital for its arms production.

“Russia’s missiles and drones are made using imported parts. Their economy depends on oil and gas money. Their rich elite want the West to stop the sanctions,” he said. “As long as Russia continues this war, the world must stay closed to them.”

The Ukrainian leader also called for a stricter global system to prevent countries from selling goods that could be repurposed for weapon manufacturing. He noted that Russian arms factories received machinery from at least 12 countries this year alone.
