Putin Unveils Landmark Economic Partnership Deal with UAE

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday during the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit, lauding a landmark economic partnership agreement between Russia and the United Arab Emirates.

“We have offered the president two dates to choose from for a visit in August of this year,” Putin stated, expressing optimism that UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will participate in the forthcoming Russia-Arab League summit in Moscow on Oct. 15.

Putin highlighted the agreement as a crucial development, emphasizing that it will remove 85% of tariffs on various goods.

“This will certainly help harmonize and further expand our trade and economic ties,” he added.
The Russian president also expressed gratitude to the crown prince for attending the summit, saying he was "delighted to see" him, and requested he pass along his best regards to the UAE president.

The UAE and the EAEU, spearheaded by Russia, have ramped up economic negotiations recently. This new deal represents a significant breakthrough in Moscow’s strategy to deepen alliances amid persistent Western sanctions.
