Russia, UAE Advance Economic Cooperation

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin convened with Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Friday during the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit.

During their interaction, Putin commended the recently signed economic partnership deal between the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates.

Putin stated, "We have offered the president two dates to choose from for a visit in August of this year," expressing optimism that UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan would take part in the Russia-Arab League summit planned for October 15 in Moscow.

He emphasized the importance of the agreement achieved with the UAE, describing it as a vital development.

According to Putin, the deal will remove 85 percent of tariffs on various products.

"This will certainly help harmonize and further expand our trade and economic ties," he said, underlining the anticipated positive impact on mutual commerce.

The Russian head of state also expressed appreciation to the crown prince for his presence at the summit, saying he was "delighted to see" him, and requested that he deliver his "best wishes" to the UAE president.

In recent months, the UAE and the EAEU, which is primarily spearheaded by Russia, have accelerated economic discussions.

The newly concluded agreement represents a pivotal point in Russia’s pursuit of strengthening global partnerships in the face of persistent Western sanctions.
